Chris is a highly experienced corporate transactional lawyer. He joined ASW in September 2024. Prior to that, he worked for more than 30 years at international law firm CMS and was a partner there for 23 years, principally in London but including three years in Hong Kong from 2000 to 2003. He has a broad and deep range of transactional experience across a wide spectrum of client industries, but with a particular focus on the financial services sector, working extensively on domestic, cross-border and international projects in the insurance (life and non-life insurers and intermediaries), funds and investment management and fintech markets.
Since moving to ASW, Chris has advised on a number of interesting transactions and projects, including:
- Nippon Life’s acquisition of the Resolution Life Group
- Legal & General’s disposal of its North American pensions risk transfer business to Meiji Yasuda
- Mitsui Sumitomo’s strategic investment in Triton International
- Establishment of a Bermudian co-investment funding vehicle for a Lloyd’s syndicate
- Acquisitions in Bermuda of an insurance broking business and a corporate services provider
- The licensing of Class 3 and Class E insurers
- Financings of insurance and investment fund groups
- Establishment and participation in Segregated Accounts Companies and Incorporated Segregated Accounts Companies
